About Craig
From a young age, Founding Partner of BIC Craig Gies remembers helping his dad shingle the houses that his grandfather built. To him, construction is truly in his blood. Craig has spent his 33 years of experience leading projects that exceed expectations. With a Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial Engineering from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, Craig is a Huskers football, basketball and volleyball fan.
We asked Craig:
What’s one piece of advice you’d give someone interested in construction?
The best advice that I would give someone interested in construction is to work in the field and be part of the building process. And, keep your eyes open to what those with a skill can teach you.
Do you have a favorite construction project? What makes it memorable?
When my dad retired from his career leading construction at the phone company, he worked as a superintendent on several projects. I would say that those projects were the most memorable to me as we got to work together to build projects like the Sunken Gardens renovation that is enjoyed by all of the Lincoln community.
Did you always know you wanted to be in the construction industry?
I got my college degree in Industrial engineering and I expected to be in the engineering field my entire life. But, after a few years in the manufacturing industry I was drawn back to the profession that I grew up in and discovered how much I enjoyed construction.
What motivates you?
Exceeding people’s expectations.
What is your favorite part about construction?
To work with the construction professionals that care about the people involved as much as they care about the project.
